Flooded Arcade Parking Lot December 2023

The City of Gardiner is conducting a Climate Vulnerability Assessment to evaluate the risks extreme weather poses to critical community infrastructure, particularly in areas prone to flooding along the Kennebec River.

The findings will help develop strategies to enhance resilience and support future planning efforts aligned with Maine’s climate action plan, “Maine Won’t Wait.”

Through community engagement, residents and stakeholders will have opportunities to provide input and share concerns. The final report will outline priority areas, recommend solutions, and identify potential funding sources for infrastructure improvements. This project is fully supported by a Maine Community Resilience Partnership grant and is expected to be completed by June 2026.

The City of Gardiner has contracted with Haley Ward and their team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers to assist with this project. The Climate Vulnerability Committee meets monthly with the project team.
