Parade of Lights

Celebrate the holiday season in historic downtown Gardiner! The evening Parade of Lights is organized by Gardiner Main Street and begins at 4:30pm and moves along Water Street from Winter Street to Waterfront Park.

Detours & Traffic Delay Details

The parade will start from Winter Street onto Water Street, continuing through downtown Water Street past both Brunswick Avenue and Church Street intersections, and ends just past the Gardiner Public Library as the floats turn down into Waterfront Park.

The one-way section of Water Street will be closed at 2:00PM. Vehicles parked on the street should be removed before the start of the parade. There will be reminders posted on Water Street on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

EXPECT DETOURS AND TRAFFIC DELAYS

Once the parade begins, all traffic coming southbound on Bridge Street from the Gardiner/Randolph Bridge will be detoured up Highland Avenue and onto West Hill Road as the primary detour route.

Traffic coming southbound on Main Avenue from the Gardiner/Randolph Bridge will be detoured through the Hannaford parking lot onto Bridge Street then onto Highland Avenue.

Traffic coming into town on River Road will be detoured onto Vine Street then towards Brunswick Avenue.

Traffic coming northbound on Brunswick Avenue towards downtown will be detoured either down Washington Avenue or around the Gardiner Common back onto Brunswick Avenue.

Traffic coming into town on Cobbossee Avenue/Water Street will be delayed until the last parade participant is on Water Street.

The top of Winter Street will be closed except for parade participants and persons who live on Winter or Summer Streets at 4:00PM.

Once the parade begins, we hope the traffic closures, detours, and delays to last for no more than 45 minutes.

The City of Gardiner would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and patience while we hold this event. We understand that it may become inconvenient for some, but this has become a yearly tradition and is a wonderful event put on by the Gardiner Main Street and those who participate.
